The Church Family

First, our church family will acknowledge your call to the preaching ministry. And on a few occasions this call may be rejected by the family.

Now this may seem unfair to the one being summoned to preach however, it is totally appropriate for a pastor and church family to reject anyone seeking a major position of leadership in the church who is not ready.

Some of the reasons may include:

  • no evidence of rebirth...
  • poor ethical lifestyle...
  • just got saved yesterday...
  • inability to teach the Bible...
  • unsociable attitude...
  • refusal to listen to elders...

These are just some of the reasons any church family may reject the persons called to the preaching ministry.

However, most of the time believers called into the preaching ministry are not rejected. They are met with joy and excitement, and praise to God for his mighty hand.

The young preacher ought to be in the process of learning from the preacher/pastor about the many function of the church in helping people. Certainly this includes learning how to preach but it also means developing empathy, understand and compassion for all people.

The only way to achieve this leadership ability is by being involved with people. Wherever human need rears it's head the preacher responds with compassion.

Involvement with people on this level under gird your power to preach. Deep within, the motions and fire of the Holy Spirits burns...He gives you the power to heal and help those who have lost their way; and He does it through your church family.
